Jen fosters a fun and inspiring learning environment that encourages individual creativity & expression, cooperation & leadership skills, and a lifelong love for dance. Students focus on fundamentals of dance technique and explore essential dance concepts using Anne Green Gilbert’s philosophy of BrainDance and themes from Laban Movement & Bartinieff Fundamentals. Class emphasizes the joy of movement and the empowerment of learning new skills. Students’ progress is celebrated twice a year through an exciting, inclusive family Dance Party. Jen began taking dance lessons at the age of 3 and has been movin’ & groovin’ her way through life ever since. She grew up having impromptu dance parties and performances whenever an opportunity presented itself. Currently a faculty member at the Old Town School of Folk Music — she was honored to receive one of the school’s first commissions in 2011 for her piece “Shuffling Through Snapshots” which celebrated the everyday movements at the school. In Chicago, Jen has performed her own work at Links Hall, Hamlin Park Fieldhouse and the Old Town School of Folk Music. She has performed with RTG Dance, Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble, Open House Dance, and Dim Sum Dance. Mostly she enjoys the positive feelings dance brings into her life and she can’t wait to bust a move with you in class!
