A Chicago native, Nancy studied dance with Gus Giordano, Orrin Kayan, Homer Bryant, and Joel Hall. She received a Master of Arts degree in Theatre from Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from Columbia College. She was on the Dance Faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago for nine years .
Her corporate credits include traveling to the Riviera Maya in Mexico to oversee an industrial she choreographed for Wells Fargo Mortgage Brokers. She has staged numerous musicals for Drury Lane Oakbrook, and received four Jeff nominations for her work there. She has also choreographed for the Cleveland Opera, Chicago Opera Theatre, and Light Opera Works.
As the Associate Artistic Director of the Joel Hall Dance Center, she co-founded JHD 1511, a pre-professional teen company in the fall of 2001. Over the five years of her direction 1511 became known for its exciting and diverse repertory and remarkable pool of outstanding young dancers. Her students have gone on to professional careers in such shows as “The Lion King,” and the movie “Hairspray.”
Currently a faculty member at the Old Town School of Folk Music, Nancy was honored to have been chosen to represent the school as a teaching artist in Ahmedabad, India where she was an Artist in Residence for two weeks in January 2011 at the Riverside School and the Darpana Academy.
